The Lynden Lions scoring duo of senior Anthony Canales and junior Brant Heppner combined for 49 points to propel the Lions to a 63-42 Northwest Conference victory over the Squalicum Storm, Tuesday night in the Storm Shelter.
The Lions took a quick 17-4 lead, but the Storm stayed within striking distance. The Lions led 28-18 at halftime and the Storm got as close as six points in the third quarter before the Lions stretched the lead to as much as 22 points in the final period.
Heppner finished with 26 points and sank five 3-point shots. Canales scored 23 and hit three 3-pointers in the first quarter. Junior post Jack Stapleton scored ten points for the Lions, with nine coming in the second half.
The Storm was led by junior guard Marcus Nixon and freshman guard Hunter Calloway with 12 points each.
On Friday, the Storm (1-2/1-3) travels to Blaine, while the Lions (3-0/4-1) will host Meridian.
